Acute Onset Dizziness

NOTE: This pathway is intended for use in patients presenting with symptoms of acute onset dizziness with a focus on identifying the most common and most dangerous pathologies. Utilizing a timing and triggers approach often identifies an underlying etiology for the patient’s presentation. Because ischemic stroke can present as dizziness and requires urgent treatment, consider acute ischemia in all patients presenting within 24 hours of onset.
